Is the massage going to hurt?
A good massage should not hurt. I will adjust my pressure to your comfort level. My intent is to gently coax your muscles to relax. Your only job as receiver of the massage is to let me know if the pressure is too much, too little, or just right. I will check with you early in the massage regarding pressure. After that I will not pester you throughout the session. Always feel free, in any massage therapy session, to let the therapist know if the pressure does not feel right to you.
Do I have to take off all of my clothes?
At the start of the massage session, I instruct my clients to undress to their level of comfort, get on the massage table and cover themselves with the sheet provided while I leave the room.“Level of comfort” means different things to different people. Some people remove all of their clothing. This is perfectly acceptable in a massage therapy session. I will keep your body well covered with the sheet and only remove the area being massaged (an arm, a leg, etc…) and then replace the sheet back over the area. Your privacy and modesty will be respected at all times. Others prefer to leave their underwear on, and that also is perfectly acceptable. Sometimes, if the session is more of a clinical session, or sports massage, the client may prefer to leave on gym shorts. This also is acceptable. So really, it all comes down to your individual comfort level.
